Whether you’re brand new to running or chasing a new personal best, a coach helps you reach your goals faster and safer. While there are thousands of free plans online, Motivated in Motion offers a personal, flexible approach from a certified coach who adapts your training to life’s curveballs, whether that’s an injury, a busy schedule, or unexpected events.
Some of the benefits to hiring a running coach are:
Injury prevention
Accountability
Help setting achievable goals
Race day prep
Motivated in Motion is here to coach you to any distance you are looking to achieve from 5km to Ultra Marathon. Whether you are looking to begin your running journey with a couch to 5km training plan or you are ready to go after that Boston Qualifier, we are here to motivate you to get started on those goals.
This is my full-time profession, not a hobby. I treat your training seriously and expect the same respect for my time and boundaries. My general coaching hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Mountain Time). I may respond outside these hours if possible, but on evenings and weekends, you can expect a delayed reply.
Definitely not! We welcome all levels of ability at all ages. Motivated in Motion will tailor your training program to fit where you are at in your journey and adapt as you do.
For the most part, running is an inexpensive sport. To sync your workouts with your Training Peaks Premium account you will require a smart device such as a Garmin, Suunto, Coros or even an Apple watch. There are lots of compatible devices you can find on their website.
As for other gear, ideally you'll have good fitting running shoes and some athletic wear. You don't need to rush out and purchase the most expensive gear but sports wear is recommended.
All coaching is delivered virtually through TrainingPeaks, email, and occasional video or phone check-ins. Your plan is updated and adjusted based on your feedback, life events, and progress. You’ll have access to your workouts 24/7 through the TrainingPeaks app, and you can message me there anytime.
TrainingPeaks is a centralized hub that lets your coach plan, track and analyze all of your training in one place. You'll be able to leave your coach feedback after each workout so that they can tailor your plan to your evolving needs. You will also be able to set your goals and track your progress towards them.
Coach Janelle and Coach Gemma are both located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. But keep in mind that this is virtual run coaching and you can be coached from anywhere.

Yes. If you need to pause due to injury, travel, or personal reasons, just let me know before your next billing cycle begins. We can discuss options for holding your spot and resuming when you’re ready. Please note that while your plan can be paused, payments already processed are non-refundable.
Injuries happen, and your training will always be adapted to your current needs. This might mean incorporating cross-training, mobility work, or lower-impact activities until you’re ready to return to running. My goal is to keep you moving safely while you recover.

Bonus: Have a health spending account? Our coach is a certified professional so you can claim your coaching expense under a health spending account.

Yes. Invoices are sent out on the last day of each month and have a 5-day grace period. Starting on day 6, a late fee of 0.03% per day is applied to the outstanding balance until payment is received.
This small fee helps keep our coaching operations running smoothly, ensures we can budget for events and resources, and keeps everything professional and fair for all athletes.
We understand that life happens. If you have a valid reason you can’t pay on time, please reach out before the grace period ends. We’re happy to work out a short-term payment plan or find another option that works for you.
We do not offer refunds for services already paid for. For example, if you pay for a month of 1:1 coaching and choose to end your service before the month is complete, no refund will be provided.
Because I plan your training in advance, any days after a new month has begun will still be billable. To avoid being charged for the next month, you must cancel before the current month ends. This policy ensures fairness and allows me to commit the necessary time, planning, and expertise to each athlete’s training.
If you commit to a full year of one on one coaching you will receive a 10% discount on the monthly rate.
Chemistry between a coach and a athlete is extremely important and shouldn't be ignored. We recommend arranging a commitment free consultation with us, to discuss your running background and goals. This will enable you to evaluate whether Motivated in Motion is a good fit for you.
