🏃 Who: Runners new or intermediate to trail, and anyone heading to the Grizzly Ultra for the first time, whether you are running a relay leg or taking on the full solo distance. All paces welcome.
You are in exactly the right place. This half day camp is built for runners who are new to trail, new to the Grizzly Ultra, or new to both. We take four hours to work through the gear, the fuelling, the terrain, and the mindset so that you show up in Canmore knowing what to expect and trusting yourself to handle it.
Paskapoo Slopes is our classroom for the day. The climbs, the descents, and the mixed footing here are the closest thing Calgary has to what you will meet on race day, so everything we practice transfers directly.
This is a guided coaching experience with plenty of stops, demos, and time to ask all the questions.
We take the full four hours to go from gear talk to trail time to race day questions, with plenty of stops for instruction and hands on learning along the way. Paskapoo Slopes gives us the climbs, descents, and mixed footing that come closest to what you will meet in Canmore, so everything we practice transfers straight to race day.
Talk gear and see demos of poles, vests, belts, layers, and bear spray
Review fuelling and hydration options, and start building a plan for your leg or distance
Learn a trail specific warm up you can use before every run
Head out for 1 to 1.5 hours on trail with coaching along the way
Practice uphill running, power hiking, downhill technique, and navigating roots, rocks, and single track
